What is channel marketing?

Channel marketing, rather multi-channel marketing is used by all successful marketers on the Internet or otherwise. So the next time, the customer is about to buy a product related to what you are marketing he is most likely to buy your product rather than go for any other brand.

Multi channel marketing uses a strategy; here databases of customers most likely to buy a particular product are created. These databases are formed after making an actual study of whether the customer would be likely to buy a product. The marketing company then reaches the customer through different channels, these channels can be through emails, through mail (print media), through television, radio, if the customer has potential, the marketing company can also reach him via telephone call. Personalizing mails, emails and phone calls by collecting information about the buyer and using it properly, can increase potential of a sale considerably. Personalizing of channel marketing should be done by anticipating the buyer's needs.

What are the advantages of channel/multi channel marketing?

Instead of single channel marketing, statistical data shows, that people are more likely to go for your product when you try and reach them through multiple channels. When your product is accessible to them, that is it reaches the customer right in their email inbox, or at their doorstep, the potential customer is most likely to read it.

Channel marketing helps creating a brand memory, it has been found, when marketing is done through several channels, the brand creates a memory in the mind of customers, so whenever they go out to buy a similar product they are most likely to go for your product. This way you have established yourself firmly in the mind of the user.

What does channel marketing involve?

Channel marketing requires you to create separate channels that reach the same potential buyers. These buyers are the ones in your databases. Your campaign will be more successful, if you can collect more information about your customer and send out personal mails, this will automatically increase your chances of making a sale. However, you cannot send the buyer same material again and again, instead ask the buyer to enroll in your customer program and make sure you are sending new information every time your company introduces something new.

For e.g. if your company introduced a latest printer, you should ensure that this information reaches the buyer through multiple channels instead of one. You can also send catalogues, promotional schemes, information regarding successes, etc., this will act as excellent advertisement and encourage the potential customer to buy from you. Success of channel marketing depends on how well you identify and reach your potential customer; another factor for success is how well you create a memory regarding your brand in people's mind.

Statistical data has shown, multi channel marketing has been quite successful in increasing sales of companies who have sincerely followed it, in fact sales have shows 10 folds increase in some cases where the marketing strategy was most successfully carried out.
